Role Play
Role play is extremely important to teach children how the world works. When children play house or play school for example they are role playing and learning how the world works.
Through role playing our children learn about right and wrong and what is acceptable behaviour in different environments. You may have watched children playing school before and the child playing the teacher tells the pupil off for doing something wrong. Both children learn that certain behaviour is not acceptable in school and learn to understand that there are rules in certain areas of life that should be followed.
This type of play can be done alone or you can create a play situation for your child. A good way to create role playing scenes is with puppets. Your child can have a puppet and so can you and you can act out different scenes so they learn about different environments and how people might act.
